The 60 acre wooded tract, now known as Poplar Springs, was initially purchased by Craig and Becky Balzer, as a site for their personal residence. It became very obvious to Craig, an Architect, and Becky, a Horticulturist, that the land offered so much that they decided to develop additional homesites that would appeal to others who were looking for that unique setting. Aimed at keeping the overall density low, sites were developed as larger "estate" homesites, allowing tremendous flexibility in home design and placement.
Poplar Springs was named after the magnificent tall Poplar trees and the springs located on the property. Poplar Springs originally offered 13 unique, 2-22 acre homesites with wonderful views and vistas, proximity to exclusive equestrian opportunities, and a sincere appreciation for clean air and privacy in a country setting.
